Offered is a wonderful, large, vintage 1974 Tissot PR-518 men’s wristwatch. The hardened all-stainless case of this piece measures 41mm without the (signed) crown, and at 10mm thickness, this piece not only radiates tasteful vintage style, but also has a commanding wrist presence. Paired with a superb original Tissot-signed bracelet, this piece is the quintessential 1970s timepiece.
The PR-518 was launched in the mid-1970s as an addition to the ‘Particularly Resistant’ (PR) range as a piece which could be worn not only for extreme sporting occasions (indeed, it was advertized on TV by accompanying a kayaker off of a tropical waterfall), but also day-to-day use. As such, was imbued with all of the rugged features / materials to be expected from a sport watch, but also a refined styling, and design flare unusual for such a watch of this period.
The automatic Tissot 2481 (Omega 1481) movement works perfectly, as does its date function. A wonderful piece of both design and watchmaking.
